Using the amazing power of your mind to create the life you truly want!

Relationships, love and the power of focus

In the previous post I mentioned the mind as the tool of difference for us all and how this is particularly evident in the news reports about sports heroes like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and the recent spectacular Wimbledon 2008 men’s final.

Here’s a charming video about Roger Federer and his partner Mirka Vavrinec.  Clearly these two people choose to focus on the best in their relationship. By focussing on the good parts, we/ they attract more good things!

A master key system for utilizing the creative power of thought

Here’s a reprint (2007) of a work that has relevance to the amazing power of the mind.

The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel

The wisdom of the first 24 modules relates to everyone. In short – everyone is unique. Everyone has varying talents and abilities that can be cultivated and honed on the mental, spiritual, and physical levels. Everyone has a divine right to live, prosper and love in an abundant and creative environment.

All things are possible with desire, faith, love, harmonious action and constructive thinking.

The ideas below are important in the quest for personal freedom and autonomy. Apply those that appeal to you to improve your life:

  1. The use of concentration and focus in your endeavors is vital. “Right Now” is the only moment in time that you HAVE to LIVE. Not yesterday and not tomorrow.
  2. Non-useful thoughts and actions should be processed, avoided, or eliminated. Choose the most constructive or beneficial thoughts and activities to revitalize and improve your body, mind and soul.
  3. Cycles of growth and life occur. You may go through phases of struggle, challenge, strengthening, and transcendence.  If you experience difficulties, analyse the nature of your thinking and your attitude or emotional reactions at the time any difficulties arise. They are a vital key for your understanding.  As you change your thinking and attitude to a more constructive and positive one, you will see the corresponding results in your life. Your awareness leads to greater abilities and knowledge.
  4. Your body desires “life force”. One of the ways to achieve greater life force is through breathing, meditation, and exercise. There are numerous activities and exercises that promote breathing, rejuvenation and build mental, spiritual, and physical fitness. Choose those that will work best for you.
  5. Staying connected with the source and forces of the Universe requires willingness. This connection also affords you stronger abilities to propel ‘mind thought’ into the universe through prayer, contemplation, meditation, focus or concentration.
  6. The character of your thought is YOU. What you think is your reality. Your perception and peace of mind is governed by the quality and harmonious nature of your thought.

How to hone your mind towards success

There are thousands of ways of looking at and aspiring towards success. Too many involve a lot of hard work, struggle and sweat.  They are variations of the familiar adage “It takes 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration to succeed”.

In recent times we are hearing about more elegant and enjoyable ways of achieving our heart’s desires.  Some of this material has been available for years but was not part of mainstream awareness. It was too far removed from popular culture and thinking.

Some of it was expressed in old fashioned language and so lost it’s potential to positively impact.  Some material just never had the benefit of modern marketing and the reach of the Internet to get the word out.

Over the next few posts I’ll include excerpts from materials that speak of the amazing power of the mind to create whatever we desire.

With repetition and hearing it in many different ways, the message begins to sink in and is accepted by default.  New neuronal links are woven in the brain.  What once might have sounded ‘weird’ in time comes to sound very familiar.  And that is the time when we are more likely to appreciate the message and wisdom of what we have heard or read - regarding our innate power and ability to design and direct our own destiny.

The only comment I’ll add is that directing the mind towards a goal or outcome is not meant to be tortuous or hard work.  It’s not about fixating on a goal and then trying to force it into being via our attention to it.  On the contrary.  There are many ways of ‘holding a vision’ of what you want that allow the process to be easy and light hearted.

This includes imagining, pretending, visualising, playing make-believe for a few minutes at a time when the thought occurs to you.  Underpinning this is your attitude or state of mind. Ideally one that is hopeful, expectant, optimistic. Not one that is pushy, demanding, or in a state of neediness or desperation. The latter is a trap for unsuspecting new-comers to the subject.

Here’s the first extract in the series from a work written by Christian D. Larson, The Mind Philosophy – edited and paraphrased in parts.

To use the power of the mind, the first essential is to direct mental action toward a goal. This direction must not be occasional, but constant. Most minds, however, do not apply this law. They think about something one moment and then about something else the next moment. Their mind is mostly scattered and easily distracted.

We know, however, that individuals who are actually working themselves steadily toward a goal they have in view, invariably direct all the power of their thought upon that goal.

In their mind, not a single mental action is thrown away or wasted. They take the time to become clear about what they want and continue to refine that clarity.  They direct their focus and attention towards the goal they wish to accomplish on a daily basis. They don’t think of one thing today and something else the next day.

The Power of Focus

Many books and articles talk about ‘focus’.  Some related terms you may be familiar with include:

  • attention
  • intention
  • goals
  • ambition
  • desire
  • decision
  • choice

All of these words offer further ways of understanding the importance and value of focus.

As a conscious reality creator in training or already skilled in the art – we need to direct our energy towards the life and experiences we want (and opposed to those we may not want).

How do we do this?

We do it via our thinking.  Thinking (or thought) is an awesome tool for focusing energy when applied with precision.

Once we are able to consciously and wilfully direct energy in the direction we want, we then begin to live the life we want, and even more importantly, we begin to experience greater satisfaction with our life.  We develop a sense of personal power. We begin to see and know, without doubt, that we are the creators of our life and that we can control the types of people and experiences that we come in contact with.

We no longer need fear external events or people because we know how to attract only those that appeal to us.

Focusing our thoughts and our thinking, is like wielding a laser beam.  And the Law of Attraction goes to work on matching our dominant point of focus, our dominant thoughts and thinking.

But this is also where many people come ‘unstuck’.  We have become so accustomed to thinking counter to the many things we desire – for example through doubt, worry, anxiety and so forth – that this habitual way of responding falls beneath our radar of conscious awareness.  But the Law of Attraction is responding to it nevertheless.

How can we change?

A step at a time.

In the same way that we have developed our habitual ways of thinking and responding – over time –  so too for most people, it takes time to develop a new, more productive habitual response to everyday topics

But that is the challenge and the reward simultaneously.  To stay at it long enough to develop a new habit of thinking.  Within a relatively short time (21 days) the new habit will begin to develop its own momentum and will begin to carry us forward without our having to consciously yank our focus or attention back to where we want it to be.  Less effort – more ease.

Focused thought and focused thinking is both an art and a science.

It is an art and a science that can change your life quickly – and often times, magically.  It is well worth taking the time to develop this powerful skill. It will sustain you for your entire life.
